I was talking to a friend earlier who seems to be VERY concerned with my "lack of skill" in the kitchen. I mean, I can boil water and make a mean bowl of pasta, but I have no other "meals" in my repertoire. She and I have decided to make one meal a week together to build up my menu...she's a great cook and if I can even get close to her ability, I'll be totally pysched... (as will Matt.)!
Do you have any easy or go-to recipes? Let me know!
Also, check out this kitchen, it's divine...

Good luck! xo
ReplyDeleteBuy a Wok from Ikea (or anywhere, but they are cheapest at Ikea). Can be done in a regular pan, but it has to be big enough to hold everything...
ReplyDeleteAll you need is the meat and fresh veggies of your choice + my 3 key ingredient sauces:
1. Hoisin Sauce
2. Oyster Sauce
3. Garlic/Chili Sauce
**(all can be found in the oriental section of the grocer).
Mix the sauces together on the side in a small cup (you don't need much) and taste to make sure you like it. Sometimes I add brown sugar.
The Wok is great because it is so quick to cook!! Just add some oil to the pan (just enough to cover the bottom), and heat on high. Then add the meat (chicken cut into bite size squares or steak strips). Make sure to season with salt/pepper. Once the meat is cooked, remove it. Then add the veggies to the Wok (I usually go with carrots, bell peppers, mushrooms, and snow peas.. Or whatever looks fresh). Stir occasionally for 3-5 minutes or until the veggies are tender. Then add the meat and the special sauce to the Wok, stir, and you are done!
Goes great over some brown rice. Mmmm... Your own little Asian Stir Fry!
Seriously, I make this dish like 1-2 times per week. It is so easy once you get the hang of it! Tip: some veggies take longer to cook, like carrots, so throw those in first.
Most of all... HAVE FUN!!
chicken parm first on the list! get ready.
