So today we had a meeting at work that turned out to be very interesting...our COO put up a huge piece of paper on the wall with our names all down the side, and the years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 on the top. She then handed each of us 5 post-its and told us to write down our goals for the next 5 years.
As soon as she handed me my post-its I really had to stop and think...she'd caught me off-guard and I wasn't quite prepared...not to mention that I haven't given the next 5 years a ton of thought. She told us that our goals could be personal or professional- it didn't matter. In case you're wondering, my goals came out like this:
2012: Increase the number of hits on our Web site and increase the number of fans on our Facebook page to 45% of our total membership...currently we're at 33.6% (and privately to increase readership on this blog...although I must be pretty lame bc two people peaced out)
2013: To update and create a cohesive "brand" of our company...that is, come up with a definitive reason for why we do what we do. Think about it, what's your why? Can you tell I've been at a convention...some of the examples that were given of companies that do a good job of promoting the "why" are Apple, Harley Davidson, Lululemon. (*here's a link to a great presentation on this if you're interested. Warning: it is long but sooo worth it I promise!)
2014: To start a family (fingers crossed!)
2015: To have the marketing stable enough that I can work mostly from home (also to make Stella & Dot a larger part of my personal life...aka pocket money for fun stuff)
2016: To hire someone better than myself to take over the marketing full-time (and allow me to work on either only the social media or on a project-by-project basis)
*is it totally bad that I wanted to put that I'd have a perfectly styled home for 2013?
Happy Tuesday!
Starting a family is in my 5 year plan, too! More like 1 year plan.... ha ha!
ReplyDeleteAnd don't stress. People close down their blogs all the time. It doesn't mean people purposely stopped following your blog!
Those sound like great goals, Lindsay.
