I LOVE LONNY

Have any of you checked out the new issue of Lonny?!  If not, go immediately to www.lonnymag.com to look it over.  It's fab.

I personally am currently infatuated with work-spaces.  Kirtie and I may have a little something up our sleeves and I am desperate to create a chic workspace for the two of us to enjoy.  Below are some pictures from Lonny that I adore and will try my hardest to emulate (in my own style of course!)

Here's what I love about the photos below:
1. The creativity...seen in the inspiration boards, the use of color and photos
2. The color!  Kirtie and I both love color and the use of the bright colors in both walls and fabrics are right up our alley...I'm thinking of framing fabric swatches and arranging them in a "collage" of sorts on an accent wall
3. Photos...the just make a work space seem more personal and intimate.

Houndstooth

And before you get a head of yourself...this by NO MEANS makes me an Alabama fan.  (wanted to get that off my chest before I move forward, and if you have no idea what I'm talking about then disregard it!)

I found myself attracted to a few images that all had houndstooth in them...how could I have forgotten how chic it can be!  Whether in curtains, notecards, dog leashes, pillows or my favorite: scarves!!!!

Wall Art

I thought this might be a cool thing for our house up here in New England.  In case y'all don't know, my hubby is a ski rep for a ski company that's based up here and he spends the winter traveling amongst ski shops and ski resorts in NE (In between trying to teach me to ski and deer hunting).

I love that it's a little rustic and local...hubby is from Stowe and went to a ski academy where he skied all of the above.  Maybe it's a good idea for a Christmas gift.

Currently lusting after...

So after posting those pics yesterday I started looking at my living room in a different light...and decided that it needs a little "somethin' somethin'". It's looking too bland/country for me, I want to spice it up!  So, I spent the majority of my afternoon and evening perusing the new Lonny online edition (Yum!) and looking on Ebay and Etsy for some fabric inspiration.

Check out these pics. They came from my new favorite Web site DecorPad.  While looking around at photos incorporating ikat fabric I stumbled across this site and found myself perusing images for way too long...

 

Loving the dual ottomans...I'm thinking about finding some to put at the foot of our bed.

Here's a picture of a swatch that is similar to the fabric I got on ebay today for $20!!

I can't wait to turn it into this:

Or maybe frame two squares of it to hang above the couch.

Had a great weekend with lots of family in town! The only way it could have been better is if my teams won...both games were so close!!!!!

Our Football Schedule Chalkboard...keeping track of Dartmouth and Gator games! Underneath is a bar that hubby built...it has built in racks for wineglasses

 

New couch...with coffee table (also built by hubby) New curtains (beige ikat fabric) are on order for the big window!  Rug courtesy of Homegoods.

 

View from behind the couch...the kitchen is to the right and the dining room is off to the left.  The fireplace is nice and cozy in the winter...a great place to cuddle up and read magazines and books.

I Heart Jonathan Adler

Have you ever been to the Jonathan Adler Web site? I hadn't until this weekend. It's AMAZING.  I literally would buy everything on the site...even stuff that isn't typically my taste!  Check out these gems I found:

Moving on, how was the rest of everyone's weekend?  Mine was fab, Dartmouth won again (2-0 baby)! Also had a nice outing at my favorite store...Target.  Found some great notecards and other goodies. I swear you can't leave that store without buying something, it's impossible.

Lots of good games this weekend, first Dartmouth then the Gators had a big win over Kentucky! Did anyone see UCLA upsetting Texas...that came from nowhere.  

Next post: house pics! I've been working hard at getting settled into the house and I'm finally ready to show some more rooms!

upholstered headboard with nail detail

My next home project is something I've been wanting to do for a while.  I love the idea of an oversize upholstered headboard with nail detail.  I am currently trying to decide what fabric and shape I want.  Hubby is very talented and I'm sure could make whatever shape I desire...I'm just not sure about my upholstering skills, so we'll see on that.  As for fabric, I saw a few that I liked on Ballard Designs:

I have to say, I really like the leopard.  It's small enough to be a neutral but I really don't think that husband will go for leopard...even though it would look so good! (Our bedding is white with a monogram in the center of the duvet...picture it and let me know your thoughts.)
