outdoor dining
The time has come for outdoor dining, Yippee! I am loving being outside in the evenings.
Below are a few photos of outdoor dining tables etc. that are so beautiful...they are just extensions of the beautiful indoor dining rooms.

You look really nice today...
Compliments.
I've been thinking a lot about compliments lately, and am racking my brain to remember this one great excerpt from a Chicken Soup for the Soul that talked about the impact of one small compliment. With a new position at work that requires me to make sure that the company's best foot is always forward I'm trying to find the right way to require our employees to compliment a certain number of people a day. I am desperately trying to find a concrete example or statistic to convey the impact of a kind word or smile.
Think about it, when was the last time you felt a little down-in-the-dumps about yourself and a stranger complimented you about your hair/outfit/smile etc. Those few kind words from someone you don't know can mean more than months of compliments from someone you do know.
Not to say that you don't appreciate compliments from people you know and love, but it's certainly nice to get an unexpected acknowledgment once in a while.
If anyone out there has a good example from a book or a personal story please let me know...I would love to hear about it!
I hope everyone had a very happy Monday!

What I'm Reading
Can I just tell you how funny this book is. I downloaded it on the kindle app on my phone and have been reading it periodically throughout the day and laughing my butt off. It is seriously one of the funniest things I've ever read in my life...if you are looking for something funny to read: THIS IS IT.
happy reading...xox

Overdue Chicken Post
Please welcome the newest members of the family....The Spice Girls!
(Scary, Sporty, Posh, Ginger and Baby)
Lucy gave them quite the welcome, as you can see.
And their new abode...
We are trying to figure out a good name for the chicken condo. Here are the front-runner's
1. Spice Market
2. Spice World
3. Chicken Kitchen...tee hee
4. The Brothel
5. **Poultry Pad**...so cute! The Glamorous Newlywed thought this one up!
suggestions??

WOW
Killer closet. Those shoes...I have no words.
A study room to die for.
I came across this amazing photo spread on a blog yesterday (can't remember which one) and ended up reading the article about two siblings in Dallas who are living together in a 12,000 square foot penthouse divided into two separate living quarters....to read the article and see the rest of the pictures go here: http://www.dmagazine.com/Home/D_Home/2010/March_April/Inside_the_Swanky_Penthouse_of_Kari_and_Kirby_Schlegel.aspx?page=1&gpage=1

Things I learned from my Mom
1. Love is unconditional
2. A smile and a kind word go a long way
3. Always write thank you notes
4. Give gifts and notes because YOU want to, not because you want a reaction
5. Always wear earrings, they are the exclamation point on your face!
6. When in doubt, less is more
7. White wine goes with chicken, red goes with pizza :)
8. Always say please and thank you
9. Wrap your presents, it shows you care (oh, and use cute wrapping paper)
10. Appreciate what you have
I hope that everyone has a great Mother's Day!
Love you Kirtie-

At least I'm not the only one...
Who needs her roots touched up...even the gorgeous Gwyneth gets caught in need of a hair touch up!
It's the little things in life that make me feel better :)

It's like grosgrain ribbon....
Okay, just so you know- I'm really into green right now. Maybe it's the green grass outside or something but whatever it is I am totally digging it...and this cool room caught my eye! How cool are the horizontal stripes- I never would have pictured this but am loving the look. (confession: I LOVE grosgrain ribbon...and these walls remind me of that very thing! I swear this is an Eliza B. flip flop pattern)
Has anyone out there done horizontal stripes? Have pics?
Happy Tuesday People! xo
