Can't believe I forgot to mention...

That Whit and I met and talked to Jodi Picoult!  Only our fav author EVER!!!!!!!  She was awesome and totally disregarded the fact that we were practically convulsing with excitement when we saw her!

It was the highlight of the night (well one of the many anyway....)

Weekend Recap

Hi All! I am happy to report that I am back in regular form today...Thank the lord!

This weekend was SO FUN!  My BFF Whit came up for the Mud Ball (my first post-college committee event) and got to see what NH is like in the Winter (insert sarcasm here).

Since I'm not currently driving, Matt got to chauffer Whit and I around beginning with her arrival Friday night!  She was greeted in the NordicaMobile (pic to come soon) with a chilled bottle of wino and two glasses.  I will admit that I made the mistake of getting out of the car to greet and and in all of my excitement I also brought out the wino and waved it around in front of airport security...to which hubby said,

"Linds! Those are Policemen...put the wine in the car"

to which I responded

"They aren't real cops, they're rent-a-cops from Airport security!"  (I apologize if anyone was offended by this comment)

Anyhoo, we were shortly on our way home where we proceeded to laugh and reminisce about the good old days...(aka 2004-2008) which seem so long ago now.  Hubby was rolling his eyes the whole time but I know that he was secretly digging the fact that we were so cool in college :)

The next day we woke up and headed into Hanover to get some breakfast/coffee/shop and set up for the Mud Ball.  Whitney was my designated driver that day as well as overall friend of the year for helping set up for the party with me (although I will admit that we left set-up early so that we could go home and use our new Sally Hansen Glitter press on nails).

We then showered, got ready college-style...as in it was a group effort.  Her helping me put curlers in, me helping her decide on lip color...basically wasting time and being girly.

Next up was our pre-party...which started out slow and quickly gained momentum once people starting showing up (always key).  I had to run out a little early to finish set up (which pretty much consisted of me running up the hill in a cocktail dress and mud boots carrying a ski boot and large duffle bag...not my best look).

Whit and Hubby walked up to the partay right at 7pm (hello, open bar)!  The rest of the night was a slight blur and consisted of the following things:
1. Whit and I taking tequila shots in a closet with other awesome committee members
2. Dancing like maniacs to the AMAZING disco band
3. Me getting mad at hubby for not dancing with me
4. Drink requests for Hubby
5. More dancing...also me picking Amy up off the stage after her 3rd attempt at an announcement about the auction

Sunday morning was rough...scratch that, Sunday all day was rough.  I need to remember that I am no longer in college and need to restrain myself.  I'm super impressed at Whit's ability to stave off hangovers...I was majorly jealous of that.

So, this week my goals are as follows: (hoping to be a more productive member of society)
1. Drink Lots of Water
2. Take 2 Pilates Classes on the Reformer
3. Cook dinner 3 nights this week
4. Let hubby know how much I appreciate him
5. oh, and be productive at work

Organization

Okay, so a few days ago a friend of mine asked me about cute office calendars.  She wants to spice up her office space and make it look cute/inviting and asked if I had any suggestions.

My mind immediately went to the following ADORABLE office accessories from Pottery Barn:

The only issue is that they can be a bit pricey.

Another cute "office organization system" comes from The Container Store and looks like this:

You can buy these "memo" boards in all different sizes and arrange them however you want...kind of a fun way to display some personal items in Le Office.

Lastly, you can't go wrong with an adorable desk calendar like the following ones found on Etsy.com:

or this cute one from Ms. Kate Spade
Well I'm off to do some worky before I pick up Ms. Whit from the airport!!!

What I'm Thankful For Wednesday

Okay, so I'm going to let you all in on a little secret that happened the other day.  Not sure if you saw, but I posted briefly that I made a pit stop in the ER on Thursday.

This all goes back to "What I'm Thankful For".  On Thursday I had a seizure.  Luckily I was at a friends office for a meeting at the time and she and some co-workers held my head still and called 911.  I came to in the ambulance and promptly started to hit on the EMT on behalf of Amy....yes, I'm a good friend :)

Anyway, I get to the hospital where everyone is SO nice and helpful.  They made sure to keep me informed of all that was going on while simultaneously reassuring me that things would be okay. Oh, and they let me watch basketball on tv...I was concerned about my bracket!

At this point Hubby and Amy are both sitting with me in the ER and holding my hands.  If they are scared to death they do not let me know, they are both as calm and cool as cucumbers.  Had it not been for them I would have probably had a nervous breakdown!

This is where the Thankful part really comes into play.  First of all, Amy: I love you so much and am not sure what I would have done without you.  It gives me goosebumps to even think about it.  You are the sister I always wanted and for that I love you eternally.

Matt: You have been the most amazing husband through all of this.  You are my rock and I am so lucky to have you in my life.  Even though you are overprotective sometimes (which, I can only laugh at)...I am grateful to be married to you and would not have it any other way.

After that downer...I'm going to lighten the mood and let you in on some things I've learned about having a brain issue:
1. When they tell you that the meds they put you on can make you loopy, they mean it.  I've been walking into walls for 3 days...seriously.
2. Not driving is kind of sweet...I will always have a DD (at least for the rest of the two weeks I can't drive)
3. Said medications also disrupt your depth perception...hence me almost taking down a wall at Target with my foot (only meant to tap something)
4. The dog can sense when something is wrong...she's been laying on my head for the past 4 nights
5. I'm very happy to report that I was one of the very small percentage of people who did NOT pee their pants during the seizure...small victories people.

Best of all: I got to see Kirtie! She came home for the weekend to see me!

Anyway, back to my lovely hubby, this is for you!
Oh, and I'm still killing you at March Madness!

ahh spring...it's almost here. I can feel it!

It's been in the high 30s and 40s way up here this week, which means...it's almost Spring!  I have been shivering in my boots trying to wear my spring stuff...I'm just so tired of wearing puffy coats I could scream!  Bring on the lightweight sweaters/scarves and sandals!

If I never see my uggs until next November I'll be happy...same goes for my ski pants and jackets...I'll happily kiss them goodbye!

All I'm asking for is my sunglasses (which, believe it or not, require sun), some cute pants and tops...that you can actually see.  I realized too late that dressing up in the winter is a waste because no one ever sees what's under your coat!!!!

Here's to Spring!

What I learned this weekend

So this weekend I went to my first ski race.  It was the NCAA Championships in Stowe...hubby was a ski racer for UVM so he's super into it (oh, and he knows everyone and their moms...literally.  I met some ppl's moms this weekend).

Moving on, here's what a college-football loving, mostly southern chick learned at a Ski Race

1. It's freaking cold
2. You have to hike halfway up the mountain to see it...and even then you can only see parts of it
3. Schools that I've never heard of are favored (Univ. of Denver/Alaska-Anchorage/New Mexico)...they don't even have football teams- who are they?!
4. Unlike all other sporting events I've been to, they do not update you with other sports scores.  This made me particularly mad because the Gators were playing bball at that point in time.
5. There is no tailgating...WHAT! You stand around all day in the freezing cold (you wouldn't even need a cooler of ice because, you know, your on snow) with no adult beverages to warm you up...Insanity!

I will say however, that skiing has a cult following...maybe because you can continue to ski after you're done racing.  I don't know, but it was pretty fun to watch hubby having such a fun time seeing everyone and reminiscing.  (although that ski hill has NOTHING on the SWAMP, and believe me, I told people that).

oh, and one other important thing i learned this weekend...I'm not in college anymore...so I really shouldn't try to keep up with the undergrads at the bar.  I'm officially old.

house ideas

so Hubby and I are thinking of building a house, which is super exciting but also super scary to think about.  There are so many things to decide and worry about!

Naturally, I'm choosing to focus on the fun part...picking out things from magazines etc. that I like and want to incorporate.

Here are some things that have caught my eye:
love the banquette and cushions...also love the big island
the ceiling is a different texture than the walls...love that.  Also ADORE the monogrammed chest
Gray cabinets? Yes please!
Bear with me, I'm sure there will be more inspiration pics to come...oh, and any and all ideas/photo suggestions are welcome!

Spring can't get here soon enough

So the weather here is frightful.  We lost power last night and have yet to re-gain it.  I had to head to work looking like a total disaster...and spent the day trying to convince my staff to come to work so that I don't have to stay until 10pm!

Last night it was an ice storm, this morning it was a combination and now it's snowing.  This weather has more issues than Charlie Sheen...and it's WINNING since we have NO power and hubby just told me that our road is blocked off, which means...Sleepover at Kirtie's house!

Since today's weather is such a disaster, I spent most of my (very limited) free time daydreaming about warm weather, sandals and sundresses and other fun warm-weather accessories...because let's face it, when you're living up here you're always too damn bundled up to see any cute jewelry etc.

Hope you are all having a better Monday than me! At least the Bachelor is on :)
