random

sometimes I really don't like having to put a title on my posts...like, what if there isn't a good title.  I mean you can only use "random" so many times. WTF.

Today is totally random but I'm trying to blog more so I figured I'd write about something...hoping that something funny would happen today.  Nada.  The only eventful thing that happened today was sitting in the lobby at work and trying to ask (beg) people to take a survey...I know, my job is uber cool.

What you ask? What was this survey about?  Nothing cool I promise...just about the work Web site (do they use it, is it effective/easy to use etc.)

Total snoozefest.  I did however realize that there are a few categories of people:
1. The "I'm too busy for your b.s." people...they'll ask you what you're doing but then say something like "oh I don't do surveys"...um okay...well I don't do FUPA's...get back in the gym and do some freaking crunches
2. The "I don't make eye contact" people...you know the one's.  They are usually totally socially awkward people and have no other recourse other than looking straight ahead and increasing their pace as they walk by you. (these people typically come up from the locker room in all-white sneakers with high socks...and not cool Air Force One white sneaker but more like sketchers or Avia shoes)
3. The oh-so-adorable older ladies that want to help so badly but can't because they didn't know we had a Web site.  A few of them offered to fill out the survey but ended up defeating my cause (I'm campaigning for a new Web site so positive reviews of the current one don't really give me any ammo)
4. The creepy older guys who try to hit on you...gross.  I can clearly see your wedding band through your hairy knuckles and besides...you are WAY too old for me (and your tank top is not cute)
5. The genuinely helpful people who are really nice and take the survey seriously (although these people seem to be in the minority...although there were several of these awesome peeps today)

I hope that this post gave you at least a smile...although thinking of the creeps made me cringe slightly!

I have a video for you all tomorrow...totally embarrassing btw.  Happy Thursday XO

latest discovery

This concealer is amazing.  It's waterproof and goes on with either a sponge or your finger.  It's the perfect consistency and stays on all day.  I put it on this morning, worked out, went to meetings and it still looked like it did when I put it on this morning.  Totally sweet (and totally covered my under eye circles)

Oh and since it's been a semi-frustrating week so far...here's something that made me laugh (sorry if this offends you Nonny!):
Happy Hump Day!

Goals? What goals?

So today we had a meeting at work that turned out to be very interesting...our COO put up a huge piece of paper on the wall with our names all down the side, and the years 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 on the top.  She then handed each of us 5 post-its and told us to write down our goals for the next 5 years.

As soon as she handed me my post-its I really had to stop and think...she'd caught me off-guard and I wasn't quite prepared...not to mention that I haven't given the next 5 years a ton of thought.  She told us that our goals could be personal or professional- it didn't matter.  In case you're wondering, my goals came out like this:
2012: Increase the number of hits on our Web site and increase the number of fans on our Facebook page to 45% of our total membership...currently we're at 33.6% (and privately to increase readership on this blog...although I must be pretty lame bc two people peaced out)
2013: To update and create a cohesive "brand" of our company...that is, come up with a definitive reason for why we do what we do.  Think about it, what's your why?  Can you tell I've been at a convention...some of the examples that were given of companies that do a good job of promoting the "why" are Apple, Harley Davidson, Lululemon.  (*here's a link to a great presentation on this if you're interested. Warning: it is long but sooo worth it I promise!)
2014: To start a family (fingers crossed!)
2015: To have the marketing stable enough that I can work mostly from home (also to make Stella & Dot a larger part of my personal life...aka pocket money for fun stuff)
2016:  To hire someone better than myself to take over the marketing full-time (and allow me to work on either only the social media or on a project-by-project basis)

*is it totally bad that I wanted to put that I'd have a perfectly styled home for 2013?

Happy Tuesday!

Back to reality

Wow reality hit hard this am. I did NOT want to get up and get to work...coffee helped a little though :)  Anyways, I figured that it's easier to show you my week in pictures than it would be to write all about it (plus it would be a lot to write and I'm not really feeling that), so here it goes!

Top to bottom: LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell filming NCIS (oh, and there was a Starbucks nearby...winning!), The Girls night 1 (pre-sick), The Girls at the Santa Monica Pier, Myself and a bestie (Katelyn!), Me trying on a cool sleeping mask at Kitson LA (no I didn't buy it)....

Then comes the Mud Ball (post red-eye flight...jealous)

Again, top to bottom: Me attempting beach waves (succes or no?), the Mud Ball Committee, Crepe Paper backdrops and flowers courtesy of Morgan! (click for more photos), Candy Bar (my fav thing), Candy take-home bags!  I'm sure there are more photos out there I just have to find them...my phone was left in a safe spot so I could get my groove on to the awesome 70s band!

That's all I have for now...hope you all had amazing weekends...I'll be catching up on your blogs all day tomorrow :)

LA so Far

LA: 1
Lindsay: 0

Stomach flu decided to hit me on day one of the conference. I don't wish that on anyone...even enemies!

Will update more later but I did happen to see some stars...LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnel outside the hotel shooting NCIS :)
